. On Sept. 12th 2007, as I was taking a shower, I heard a commotion in the other room, I grabbed a towel and opened the door to be greeted with several semi automatic guns shoved into my face. I looked over to where I normally sleep (a futon mat on the floor) and saw Reno face down, hands cuffed behind his back as several (approximately 7) US Marshals were beating him. They did not stop until I yelled for them to quit, at which point I was thrown up against the wall, handcuffed, and was told it was for their “safety.” I asked for the warrant several times throughout this long ordeal, and was told repeatedly that they did not need one to come into the residence. They went through the home looking for and taking all of our guns and weapons, which were legally obtained, legally possessed, and documented by paperwork. I was taken outside in my towel and interrogated in front of all the press and neighbors, not allowed to put on any clothing until hours later when they wanted to take me down to the sheriffs office to run my name and prints. I expressed to the county officers that they were in the wrong and that they have power of jurisdiction over the fed agents but they were like “hey we are just doing what we are told to do, that's our job.” After about an hour which about 45 minutes of it was waiting for the fingerprinting machine that most likely cost local tax payers a lot of money for the Jim Wells sheriff’s department to have, they finally brought Reno in from a different location, to which they took him during transit from the trailer (home) to the sheriff’s department. They had placed him around the corner where he and I could see each other in a mirror, so we started questioning loudly and confidently about where the paperwork was filed or the warrant for the feds to enter Jim Wells County and prove their jurisdiction until they got tired of our demands for proof and reason. So, they took me into a room down the hall, separating me from Reno but he continued questioning them as to why they could not tell us on what charges he was arrested, nor why would they know until the US Marshals show up to speak to them.
This was Reno's Last Day of Freedom.
Eventually I was released later that afternoon, WITHOUT my Indiana State ID. When leaving to walk back home, I met with Reno's brother, who reported that he had been released. He tried to get my ID back by calling the offices. He was told that they can't find it and then "We lost it." Several days later, I had to go to the US court house, a two hours round trip, retrieve it from the US Marshals Office in Corpus Christi, Texas from the same Marshals that raided and arrested Reno.
